Bengkulu, sentralnews.com- Sebagai Bupati periode 2016-2021, Dr. H. Ahmad Hijazi, SH, M.Si telah sukses membangun Kabupaten Rejang Lebong sesuai dengan visinya yakni Sehat, Cerdas, Taqwa, dan Sejahtera.
Hal itulah yang membuat pria kelahiran Palembang tahun 1954 ini mantap mencalonkan diri sebagai Calon Gubernur Bengkulu pada Pemilihan Gubernur (Pilgub) 2020 mendatang. Ia berniat ingin menggelorakan keberhasilan untuk pembangunan di Provinsi Bengkulu.
Meski sempat diterpa isu tak sedap atas keinginannya memaksimalkan kembali Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah (RSUD) Jalur Dua yang sempat terbengkalai selama 10 tahun di Kecamatan Merigi, Ahmad Hijazi tak pernah bergeming ia tetap melanjutkan pembenahan hingga kini RSUD Jalur Dua tersebut berhasil dibangun dan akan dijadikan rumah sakit pelayanan utama di Kabupaten Rejang Lebong. Bahkan anggaran kesehatan di Pemkab Rejang Lebong hingga saat ini sudah diatas 10 persen dari APBD yang diwajibkan undang-undang. Program unggulan Ahmad Hijazi adalah memberikan pengobatan gratis kepada masyarakat miskin, dari program ini diharapkan dapat meringankan beban pembiayaan berobat bagi kalangan kurang mampu.
Di tangan Bupati Ahmad Hijazi, Pemerintah Kabupaten Lebong telah menerima banyak penghargaan sejak tiga tahun terakhir. Bahkan Kabupaten Rejang Lebong berhasil mendapatkan predikat opini WTP (Wajar Tanpa Pengecualian) dari Kepala BPK RI Perwakilan Bengkulu atas laporan keuangan tahun anggaran 2018 untuk pertama kalinya setelah 11 tahun tak meraih WTP.
Selain itu, menjadi Bupati Rejang Lebong, Ahmad Hijazi fokus pada peningkatan perekonomian kerakyatan berbasis potensi lokal dan berdaya saing. Langkah konkritnya, ia dengan sigap meluncurkan program Rejang Lebong kota wisata dan program bibit gratis. Untuk mendorong pemerataan ekonomi, ia mencanangkan pembangunan pasar tradisional yang tersebar di 15 kecamatan dan memberikan pinjaman bergulir tanpa binga untuk kalangan pedagang mikro. Langkah ini berdampak siginifikan, angka kemiskinan dari 21,4 persen pada tahun 2016 turun menjadi 14,2 persen di tahun 2018.
Sementara untuk pendidikan, dibawah kepemimpinan Ahmad Hijazi, Pemkab Rejang Lebong telah mengalokasikan anggaran diatas 20 persen dari APBD yang diwajibkan undang-undang. Bahkan pada tahun 2019 ini, Ahmah Hijazi berhasil mendirikan Universitas Pat Petulai yang sudah dirancang olehnya sejak 10 tahun silam. Universitas ini diharapkan memberikan kontribusi dalam meningkatkan kualitas SDM dan perekonomian masyarakat. Melalui programnya, Pemkab Rejang Lebong telah memberikan bahan seragam sekolah gratis kepada 45484 pelajar dari mulai tingkat SD dam SMP. Bantuan ini juga akan diberikan secara berkelanjutan setiap tahunnya kepada siswa siswi baru SD dan SMP. Bukan hanya itu, Pemkab Rejang Lebong telah memberikan bantuan beasiswa kepada siswa yang berprestasi dan sekitar 70 siswa berprestasi menerima bantuan berupa kuliah gratis dengan rincian 16 siswa mahasiswa kedokteran, dan 54 lainnya mahasiswa non ledokteran dengan rata-rata anggaran sebesar 800 juta lebih pertahunnya.
Dan terakhir, dalam visi Taqwa-nya Ahmad Hijazi fokus pada dua kebijakan yaitu peningkatan kualitas dan kuantitas sarana peribadatan serta kualitas pendidikan agam masyarakat. Untuk mendorong hal itu, Pemkab Rejang Lebong telah membangun Pondok Pesantren Tebu Ireng di Desa Air Kati Kecamatan PUT (Padang Ulak Tanding) dan memberikan bantuan hibah pembangunan masjid di 15 kecamatan di Kabupaten Rejang Lebong.
Selain itu, ia telah mengangkat 122 orang guru agama desa yang ditugaskan disetiap desa dan kelurahan di Kabupaten Rejang Lebong untuk meningkatkan kualitas ibadah dan pendidikan agama bagi masyarakat.
